Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker
I bought this coffee maker in white. I have a small kitchen and it kind of brightens up my countertop, which is nice. More important though, this coffeemaker is easy to set up and operate, and it makes coffee that is just the right strength. Best of all the coffee comes out perfectly hot (but not "overcooked") and it stays nice and hot in your cup until the last sip, even with cold milk or cream added! With my previous coffeemakers, I had to microwave the freshly-brewed coffee to heat it up and keep it hot, but NOT with this one. Only thing I'd change about this model is I'd like a slightly longer power cord--even if just a few inches longer. But if your outlet is fairly close, you might even prefer not having excess cord. Overall, this is a terrific coffee maker and I am really pleased with this purchase.
A great appliance, but nothing's perfect - Review written on October 27, 2008

I received this coffee maker as a gift a few years ago, and it is still going strong daily - like I like my coffee!
The unit is of an appreciable build quality that's uncommon these days. It is sturdy and stable enough to not be knocked around by other appliances competing for counter space, the finishes do not wear out over time, and it has remained fully functional over all the abuses I have given it over the years.
The only faults I can assign are the carafe, whose lid can only be 'snapped' on and off for fast/easy pouring (I miss the $10 Mr. Coffee model's fliptop lid), and the somewhat awkward and small reservoir filling location.
I say awkward, because as other reviews here have noted the unit itself is somewhat tall. When located on a relatively high countertop, it can be a real strain to pour the last bit of water out of the carafe into the top of the unit. Again, this may have be partially resolved by a carafe with straight sides, or some other design making it easier to pour.
I really can't fault this unit's function however. It has consistently made pot after pot of quality drip coffee time and again. If you have the opportunity, I would simply recommend trying out the motions of disassembling the carafe lid and to go through the motions of filling the reservoir using the carafe before plunking your own money down.
As a gift, rest assured you will make your target quite happy if they're in need of a nice, well built performance drip coffee maker.
