The Classic Kit will definitely help organize and optimize your closet space. I've purchased 3 sets of Deluxe Kits prior to purchasing this one and there is definitely a difference in quality. The Deluxe Kit contains parts that are a bit more heavy duty. For an adult closet, I would definitely recommend the Deluxe Kit. For kids closets, the Classic Kit works out just fine. You just have to decide whether spending the extra $30-$50 is worth the upgrade. Don't get me wrong, the Classic Kit is not junk by any means. It's just a matter of how you expect to use the kit.

I have to say Rubbermaid has it going on! I had 2 Rubbermaid organizers and one Closetmaid organizer installed in my 16' closet, and Rubbermaid is the best, hands down!
I did not put these up my self, but my friend who did it said it wasn't bad at all. He did purchase different and more "heavy-duty" anchors and did not use the ones that were provided in the box since I have so much stuff to hide in the closet. I will estimate that both Rubbermaid organizers took him about 3 hours to put up. (That's with breaks.)
I've already changed some of the shelving, and it is easy with the unlock/locking system.
I couldn't find a better price than Amazon and the Super Saver Shipping makes it all worth it.
I recommend Rubbermaid for your closet organization needs!

Great product, easy installation and great price. I plan to purchase a second system for another closet having had so much success with the first.

This is an excellent product. I have now installed 4 sets in a home that we just built, and I am very impressed with the thought that went into making these consumer-friendly. I recommend that you buy the 4-8 foot product, as you get a lot more for your money, including the extentions to use the lower walls.Rubbermaid Configurations 4-to 8-Foot Classic Custom Closet Kit, Titanium (Satin Nickel) #FG3G5900TITNM

Amazon puts them in the Gold Box frequently, so watch for them there. It is an attractive, easy to install, well-engineered product!

I bought 2 of these. One for each of my kids' closets. It definately made a HUGE difference and was very easy to install. I do, however, wish there were a couple more shelf options. Other than that, I have no complaints. I do have to say, though, that the wall anchors that come with it were like no other I had ever used and I couldn't figure them out (maybe just stupidity on my part, but I CAN'T be the only one ;] ), so it would be nice to offer some little instruction box on how to use the ones provided. Thankfully, I had some others on hand that were a no-brainer. Sturdy, lightweight, and a really great product.

Love my closet Kit. My closet was such a mess...so unorganized. It now looks like it should belong in someone elses house. It was so easy to install. My son and I did it...(but I could have done it by myself). I am probably going to order another one for my other closet. Highly recommend this.

I'm very happy with this system. It seems very sturdy and I was pleasantly surprised at how it freed up a lot of space in my closet. I also liked how the box showed how to set up different possible configurations for each of the different closet sizes.

I bought the basic model (this time) because I had some leftover shelves from the install I did in my master walk-in closet. Previously, I purchased the custom 4-8 ft, plus 2 basket drawers, the pant rack, and shoe racks... love the adjustability.

This is an easy project to do. Everything is included in the package, just measure, drill and start hanging shelves. I did one bedroom closet and spent about 2 hours reading directions and making sure everything was right. The second closet went quicker. Now I'm ready to tackle the master bedroom and will certainly use the same system.

Alright over the past several years I have paid various closet companies to put professional organizers in a few of our homes. In the past I probably have spent in total approx. $15,000 with these companies. Recently I wanted a walk in closet in our new house done but I knew that this summer we were going to remodel and knock this closet completely out to expand for a master retreat. Not wanting to spend $3000 or more on a professional closet only to see it torn down and thrown away in a few months I decided hey this is a cheap system it will do for a few months and it even looks easy to install. To my shock it came and it was awesome. It took (3) 3-6 ft systems and (1) 4-8ft system to do this closet. I also ordered, belt racks, canvas bins and wire drawers. Less then $600 to totally pimp out a huge walkin closet yippy!!! Good bye closet companies hello idiot proof installation and versatility for cheap. I love ya Rubbermaid! I'd bet they have a women designing for them.

My number one concern prior to buying this was that I am in new construction with metal beams; so I would be using the drywall anchors solely and I had a ton of clothes; my guess it probably something like 160 pounds of stuff total for the closet. Well after installation the whole system (even without going into studs) was very sturdy.

I looked very closely at the Rubbermaid and Closetmaid systems and also looked at some of the custom closet solutions (Like elfa). I ended up going with the Rubbermaid and am very happy I did; the production value on the Rubbermaid top notch, very sturdy with good finishes, plenty of parts. Using the wall anchors I piled everything into a 4' closet with I would say about 95% utilization.

I had a Closetmaid partical board system before and although it cost the same amount roughly... it wasn't configurable, had cheaper parts, worse clothes rod, and a cheaper less sturdy feel.
Good organizer for a toddler closet, but could use more shelves - Review written on February 11, 2008

My husband and I were looking for a way to "take back" our living room and family room, freeing it from all the stacks of toys being stored on the floor in random toy boxes and bins. We really wanted to utilize our 2-year-old's closet (4 1/2 feet with just a clothes rod and a shelf across the top) so that it could still hold his clothes, but also hold toys. This organizer fit the bill. Since a toddler's clothes are short, we were able to put two hanging rods on the right side of the closet, a shelf across the top, and then four additional shelves on the left side of the closet.** (Please see my note about the shelves below.) Our son ended up with the same amount of hanging space with the double-rods, and we feel like we've tripled the amount of usable storage space for his toys! The fact that this system is customizable is WONDERFUL, and it's fairly easy to install. And, it's so sturdy! I don't have to worry about my son's toys coming toppling down on him (or us). We bought some see-through bins and organized his toys from our living space into his closet, and we couldn't be happier!

**Note: This classic kit didn't come with enough shelves for what we did. We had some shelves left over from the 8 foot deluxe set we bought for our own closet. We had to buy rods to extend the left-hand side to accomodate more shelves, and some extra brackets (we found these extra Rubbermaid products at Home Depot for about $3.97 a piece.) This Classic set gets four stars because of the lack of shelving/brackets. The deluxe gets a solid 5 stars from me, as it comes with more than enough for whatever configuration you want. If you want a lot of shelves, you might go for the deluxe kit.

After the rod in my closet fell 2 times (due to the weight of my clothes) over the course of a year, I started my search for an affordable storage system for my closet. I looked EVERYWHERE. I needed it to be under $200, and I was particular about how it would be configured. The Rubbermaid system was the most attractive, easy to install, flexible and affordable one I found. I cleared out my closet and all I had to have my husband do was install the rods (which took him 15 minutes) and I could easily do the rest. No cutting, no planning (you can change as you go), it was perfect. I've recommended this to everyone I know!

Installed this Rubbermaid system to add a lower bar to my closet to accomodate my girlfriend who's moving in. It's pretty easy to install. The anchors are not a problem if you read the directions and are actually quite good... I don't look forward to taking them out, if I ever have to. The shelves are sturdy and the standards provide plenty of configuration options. My only complaint is that the rods could be a little sturdier and be fastened to the shelves more securely. The metalic look is a nice change from the constant white rubber coatings on most closet systems. Overall, I'm pleased (but not in love).

My husband and father-in-law installed this system in two kids' closets in about 2 hours. In our old house, we used the Elfa system from the Container Store - it is very similar, but costs at least twice as much. For our needs, this Rubbermaid system will work great and the price is fabulous. Plus free shipping - what more could I want?
Fit two walk-ins into one! - Review written on August 07, 2007

I recently got married and had the challenge of fitting my husband's walk-in closet full of clothes into my already full walk-in closet. I bought three of these, one for each wall, and in one afternoon we had them installed and everything back in. The storage was more than doubled and there is nothing on the floor anymore. I used to be embarrassed by the condition of my closet, now I brag about it and take people in there to show them. Love it!

This is a very easy custom closet configuration system to install. I like that the rails attach to the wall and don't have braces that take up more room. It is very flexible because once you have the rails attached you can put the shelfs and rods where ever you need them.

Only took me about 45 minutes to install (and that's because I was convinced that it should've been more difficult, so I kept taking measurements and leveling), and it looks great. The nickel finish looks nicer than a cheap white plastic, but there are some plain gray plastic pieces used in this- luckily they get hidden by your clothes.

This unit was very easy to assemble, looks so much better than that rubber-coated closet organizer that we replaced with this one, and holds up much better. VERY simple to adjust shelving. Very happy with purchase.
Doubled my closet space - Review written on December 01, 2006

I actually ordered 2 sets of these. Each took a wall in a walk in closet. I ripped out the Closetmaid crap the plastered the holes. The finish on the Configurations was so nice, I decided I couldn't just put it up without painting the walls. Yep, I painted my walk-in closet, and installed a stainless steel 3-halogen bulb light fixture to match. I also left enough room in my 9' tall walk-in for top moulding to boot. I figure, the closet is one of the first rooms you enter every morning of your life, why not bring it out.
I took my time on the installation, to get the measurements correct. I had one trouble spot where I hit some metal joiners where the stud was. Metal screws fixed the problem easy. My g/f and I are both 6 foot, so I actually set it up higher than the instructions say to. I took the extra bottom space and just mounted extensions for accessory shoe racks. All our shoes are now off the floor and high enough I can run the vacuum through. You will need the shoe racks.
I have double the space in my closet now, and I've used every bit of it.

I just spent the past 2 days putting up just the top rod. My problem was the screws wouldn't go into my studs, so I ended up using the drywall anchors. I would suggest if you have never done any thing with drilling or screwing read the directions all the way through 2 twice. I luckily had a drill and just needed to purchase a bit to use the dry wall anchors, but it was alot of going back and forth to Home Depot.

Haveing said that it wasn't that hard to put up as long as you have the right tools. I did it by myself, but would advise having someone help if you haven't done any home improvement before.

This closet kit was simple to use and sturdy. It took my husband one hour to complete the first closet system and 30-45 minutes for the second. It has made a HUGE difference in my children's closet and we can't wait to finish the rest of the closets in our house. We live in a 57 year old house with not much closet space and standard rod hanging systems. This system gave us a tremendous amount of clothes hanging space.
